Evidence-Based Strategies in Colorectal Surgery

Goal
To review the latest evidence regarding outcomes associated with colorectal surgery (CRS) for diverticulitis of colon and for colorectal cancer (CRC).

Learning Objectives
After reading this article and taking the test, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the various factors that increase patients’ risk of developing complications after CRS.
  2. Evaluate the outcomes of different surgical techniques and procedures used to treat diverticulitis and CRC.
  3. Implement evidence-based strategies to improve patients’ outcomes after CRC.
